    Post date: Fri, 07/12/2018 - 16:35

Thursday night saw 67 Macro images submitted from 20 members. In the first half of the evening, Judge Ian Whiston DPAGB, EFIAP, BPE5* efficiently reviewed the images, holding back 25 images for further consideration. The excellent summer weather must have been good for dragonflies and demoiselles, as these made up a high proportion of the images entered.   After the coffee break, Ian narrowed it...

  • Themed Print Competition - "Urban"

    Post date: Sun, 18/11/2018 - 12:57

Thursday night saw Printed images from 9 members who submitted 30 prints. Judge Ralph Duckett [MPAGB, APAGB, EFIAP] seemed to enjoy the process tremendously. He adopted a novel approach by reviewing all images in detail with constructive comments. He chose NOT to select any at that time to “keep the suspense going” - which it DID. Then during the intermission, he narrowed the 30 down to 12 [more...

A small team of volunteers spent Monday morning selecting images, labelling them and mounting them in frames in readiness for the Exhibition.  Further volunteers journeyed to Tegg's Nose Country Park, just outside Macclesfield this morning to fasten the frames up.  Excellent teamwork on both occasions, and thanks to Kevin Burton, John Emery, John Garrett, Glyn George and Arthur Lomas for all...

  • Open Competition - Black & White/ Mono/ Infra Red (Print)

    Post date: Mon, 05/11/2018 - 09:45

Our thanks to Judge Graham Walton, DPAGB who traveled a long way to judge our first Print competition of the season.  With only 30 entries from just 9 members we were treated to a detailed critique of every image. I’m sure the advice was helpful not just to the Entrants, but also to all those who attended. Cliff Hughes was unlucky not to get all 4 of his entries awarded a place as "Carly behind...

  • Practical Night 30th Oct

    Post date: Wed, 31/10/2018 - 20:55

The 5 members who attended the practical evening had a real treat.  Tony Cartwright showed us how to make simple improvements to our images using Photoshop Elements and Arthur Lomas brought the recently acquired lighting tents (donated by a former member) to demonstrate different lighting options. Unfortunately the lights didn't want to perform but we got the general idea. The star of the night...

  • Open Competition - Black & White/ Mono/ Infra Red (PDI)

    Post date: Tue, 23/10/2018 - 14:30

WoW - what a massive entry 89 entries from 26 members brave enough to enter! and what a great Standard! The Judge – Dave Tucker EFIAP/b, DPAGB, CPAGB, BPE3* - held back 32 images which made for a nail biting second round but meant many “hopefuls” with excellent images either did not make the cut, or fell at the last review. To those I say PLEASE keep trying, keep entering and above all keep...
